ThermalSafe® laminated safety glass from Thermal Windows,
Inc. is an insulating glass unit that incorporates one or more lites of laminated glass. Laminated glass consists of two layers of annealed glass with a layer of polyvinyl butyral (PVB) sandwiched in between.
The advantages to a homeowner of having ThermalSafe® are:
- The inside lite of glass is laminated so that if broken, the glass
stays in place and there are no sharp edges to injure people.
- There is no litter on the floor.
- The PVB interlayer blocks over 99% of the sun's ultraviolet rays
that fade carpets and drapes.
- The PVB interlayer improves the sound reduction values of regular
insulating glass.
- Since the inside lite of glass is the laminated glass, if a
potential burglar smashes the outside lite, it will break into jagged
pieces. Even if he breaks the inside lite and it remains in the frame,
the additional time and effort required to gain entry makes it likely
that he will discontinue his attempt to break into the home.
